Ham And Cheese Sliders

Don’t settle for a basic ham and cheese when you can make crowd-pleasing Ham And Cheese Sliders that have more taste and flavor than any ordinary sandwich.

There are many ways to make sliders, but one of my favorites is this recipe for ham and cheese sliders. They’re as easy as making ham and cheese sandwiches—but taste much better. They’re great if you don’t want to put too much effort into preparing lunch or dinner, but I tend to use this recipe for group gatherings. If you’re hosting people, planning a picnic, or attending a potluck, ham and cheese sliders are perfect because they require minimal effort to prepare and are easy to transport.

Of course, don’t be surprised if some people take a liking to these sliders and eat more than a couple of them. These sliders offer a lot more taste and flavor than an ordinary ham and cheese sandwich. With a mixture of Dijon mustard and honey, they have a hint of sweetness and a slight kick. The drizzle of melted butter, poppy seeds, garlic powder, and onion powder is also a big part of the appeal of these sliders. You can definitely taste how those flavors complement the salty ham. Finally, one of my favorite parts of this recipe is that the cheese is melted, adding a gooey finish to this tempting little bite.

Are Ham And Cheese Sliders Healthy?

Ham and cheese sliders may not fit into every diet. With deli ham, cheese, and butter, these sliders tend to be high in fat, calories, and sodium. To create a lighter version, opt for lower-fat cheese and lower-sodium ham, or use fewer slices. You can also omit the top layer of melted butter to reduce the fat content.

Subtle Variations Can Make A Big Difference

With a recipe like this, there’s always an opportunity to customize it to suit your taste. For instance, if you’re not a fan of Dijon, you can swap it out for brown or yellow mustard. If Swiss isn’t your favorite, consider Gouda, provolone, Muenster, or sharp cheddar. Also, if you prefer deli turkey over deli ham, that’s another easy swap to make in this recipe. Finally, if you want to spice things up, you can top the layer of cheese with diced jalapeños.

FAQs & Tips

How Do I Store Leftovers?

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 4 days. They can also be frozen for up to 3 months.

Can I Prep This Ahead?

Yes. You can assemble the slider rolls, ham, and cheese together and then leave them in the fridge covered. However, don’t add the melted butter mixture until just before you place the sliders in the oven.

Make Sliders That Won’t Get Soggy

To prevent these sliders from getting soggy, add the melted butter mixture right before baking the sliders in the oven. Also, don’t forget to cook them uncovered for the final 5 minutes for a crisp finish.

Serving Suggestions

If you’re making ham and cheese sliders the main part of a meal, there are countless side dishes that will go well with them. I like to make either a Healthy Potato Salad or a Pasta Salad. It can also be a good idea to incorporate green vegetables into the meal, such as Roasted Broccoli or Air-Fryer Asparagus. Finally, if you want to get creative, I recommend trying Southern Coleslaw or perhaps Keto Onion Rings.
